Hi, I'm Lee Ann. I am originally from Michigan and my husband is from California. We have 4 amazing children (Noah, Joseph, Anna & Isaac), 1 wonderful daughter-in-law (Breezz), and 1 beautiful granddaughter (Cali Ann). Oh, and we have an adorable dog named Tilly.
In October 2023, we were camping in one of our favorite spots - Moab, Utah. During the camping trip, I found a lump and while hoping that it wasn't what I thought it was, I had the feeling that life was about to change. I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer one month later. I started chemotherapy the next month on December 13. This cancer can be aggressive so I was given weekly treatments of chemo along with immunotherapy for 12 weeks. Then I had 4 treatments of a type of chemo nicknamed "Red Devil"....this chemo lives up to its name! Nasty stuff. However, God gave me a strong body and I was able to make it through the treatments while homeschooling my kiddos and still exercising several times a week.
On July 3rd I had surgery to remove the remaining tumor (it had shrunk from 3 cm to 9 mm) and the surgeon was able to get it all out with good margins. The bummer was that she found some small pre-cancerous cells as well so I'm not in the clear. . . yet. She got those cells out too, but I will have to continue with chemo. This time it's in the form of a pill. I'll be starting this oral chemo with immunotherapy the first week of August. I'll have to do that for about 6 months. Then radiation after that.
It's been a longer-than-I'd-like journey, but God is good. He's brought an abundance of love, hope, and light into my life, mostly through amazing people. I'm grateful to still be here to enjoy my family and I’m hopeful for my future with them by my side.
